High-definition liposuction (HDL) may be your solution to achieving the body contour you’ve always wanted. Unlike traditional lipo, HDL removes fat in a way that’s much more precise, allowing Dr. Gould to target problem areas, such as the flanks, abdomen, and inner thighs. Traditional lipo or other non-invasive approaches are not as precise and lack the ability to deliver anatomic definition.
A new trend in body sculpting has arrived on the scene, and it’s called high-definition liposuction (HDL). What sets HDL apart from traditional liposuction is its ability to sculpt your body’s contours in ways that standard lipo can’t accomplish. For example, traditional liposuction can remove fat from your thighs, buttocks, arms, stomach, and other places, but it doesn’t always create the results you want or expect. HDL does this better by sculpting those contours you want to see even after the fat removal process is complete. Dr. Gould was trained in this technique through the Total Definer Course under the world's leading expert, Dr. Alfredo Hoyos.
Precise Contour
High-definition liposuction (HDL) is a newly-developed procedure that offers impressive results. HDL removes fat, but it’s different from regular lipo by targeting stubborn fat areas. The newest trend in Beverly Hills body sculpting is all about high-definition lipo. High-definition is a new form of liposuction that focuses on contouring individual areas and precise spots on your body.
High-definition liposuction liquefies fat cells, utilizing combination technologies like Vaser with traditional power-assisted liposuction and skin tightening with energy devices. This precision means smoother, firmer skin with a more svelte appearance.
Vaser utilizes ultrasound energy in order to loosen the fat cells from the connective tissues surrounding them to allow for smoother lipo during the fat removal portion of the case. This technology allows for the treatment of more fibrous or thick fat. It improves results in revision cases and dramatically reduces the time portion of the fat removal part of the case.
Dr. Gould uses the SAFE technique, a combination of Separation, Aspiration, and Fat Equalization, in order to safely remove fat for the liposuction part of the procedure. Following the liposculpture, Dr. Gould may utilize energy-based skin tightening devices like J Plasma (APYX) or Body Tite (InMode) in order to tighten your skin and shrink wrap your results.
The most significant benefit of high-definition liposuction in Beverly Hills is that it allows you to sculpt your body with laser-like precision. High-definition liposuction commonly treats the following areas:
HDL is ideal for patients who want to improve their body’s contour with minimal incisions, each smaller than the size of a pencil eraser.
Significant High-Def Results
Although high-definition liposuction can give you great results, it does not replace more invasive procedures like tummy tucks. There are some cases where it isn’t an appropriate solution. Make sure to talk about any contraindications with Dr. Gould during your consultation.
If you have a history of cardiac disease or lung problems, if you’re diabetic or pregnant, if medications affect wound healing, or your BMI is over 40: all these conditions mean that high-definition liposuction might not be an ideal procedure for you. However, each situation and patient differs and warrants further discussion with your surgeon. Dr. Gould will take careful consideration if necessary before proceeding with treatment.
Precise Liposuction
Your Beverly Hills High-definition liposuction will be a quick, non-invasive procedure that can be done under general or local anesthetic and takes only about one to three hours to complete. After an initial consultation with your doctor, if you do the procedure under local anesthesia, you will receive some local numbing injections and then your surgeon will remove excess fat via lipo while you are comfortable and awake. If you have a procedure which requires general anesthesia, after medical clearance you will be brought to the operating room where a qualified anesthesiologist will work with your surgeon and ensure you are completely comfortable and asleep for the procedure.
HDL is done in much the same way as regular liposuction. A small, hollow needle attached to a long tube will be inserted into your skin. This tube is connected to a small suction device that sucks out fat cells through tiny incisions made in your skin.
Alternatives to High-definition liposuction are medium definition and low definition liposuction. Medium-definition liposuction is an approach that creates an athletic but feminine contour with the lines down the middle and sides. High-def seeks to improve the appearance of the horizontal lines between abs. Low-definition liposuction simply seeks to de-bulk fat and improve body proportions.
You can expect swelling, bruising, and numbness to your treated areas. However, once the swelling dissipates, patients recover quickly and return to work within five days to two weeks. The procedure offers dramatic results that help patients live more comfortably with their bodies after undergoing significant weight loss or other types of body transformation. When performed correctly by an experienced surgeon like Dr. Gould, HDL gives patients natural but noticeable improvements. At Dr. Gould Plastic Surgery, we strive to offer the best High-Definition Liposuction Beverly Hills has to offer.

Traditional liposuction focuses on reducing the volume of fat in the abdomen, thighs, flanks, and back and does offer significant results. However, high-definition liposuction takes your results one step further by using ultrasonic energy and high-level anatomic sculpting to break down even more fat while leaving behind anatomic shapes to show more muscle definition.
As you lose weight over time with diet and exercise, your results will improve. However, if you gain weight and do not maintain your body, some remaining fat cells might enlarge, and fat can regenerate or return; but many experts believe HDL permanently removes unwanted fat cells. In addition, unlike traditional liposuction, HDL focuses on parts of your body you love—such as your abs—and avoids causing noticeable scarring by offering topographical contouring.
High-definition liposuction is a safe and effective procedure; however, it can take up to six weeks for the swelling to subside. Rare complications include infection and fluid build-up under the skin.
After your consultation, Dr. Gould’s patient coordinator will provide you with the cost of treatment and inform you about payment and financing options.
HDL is a cosmetic procedure that is not covered by medical insurance.
