Botox injectable treatment by Dr. Daniel Gould in Beverly Hills, CA.
Botox is a unique neuromodulator that demonstrates many benefits other than cosmetic use. It was initially created to treat medical conditions such as cerebral palsy, excessive sweating, eyelid twitching, lazy eye, chronic migraines, and types of muscle spasms. Derived from a botulinum toxin, Botox Cosmetic is designed to relax your facial muscles and soften your overall appearance by temporarily blocking your facial muscles from contracting.
Dr. Gould’s unique background includes being a fellowship-trained top plastic surgeon and a Ph.D. in bioengineering. He understands how to combat the signs of aging to help you look your best. Botox is the gold standard for relaxing fine lines and wrinkles caused by repetitive muscle movements. As a well-known injectable neuromodulator, Botox works to temporarily block nerve signals to your facial muscles so they are unable to contract. It is FDA-approved to treat crow’s feet, frown lines, and forehead wrinkles.
Dr. Gould subtly uses Botox to suspend these muscles but still enables you to express yourself freely. Your result is smoother, more youthful-looking skin without appearing “frozen.”
Enhanced, but never overdone
Before receiving Botox Beverly Hills patients will need to refrain from blood-thinning medications, alcohol, NSAIDs, aspirin and ibuprofen, fish oil, and vitamin E supplements, as these can increase your chances of bruising and bleeding during your treatment. Your treatment typically takes about 10 to 15 minutes but could be longer. Pictures are taken before your treatment to document the changes from your treatment. Once your face is cleansed, Dr. Gould administers the Botox in a series of injections to the treated area or areas according to your treatment plan. You may have some residual redness, but this is easily camouflaged with makeup if necessary.
Both neuromodulator injectables are derived from botulinum type A and provide similar results. Botox results are visible within 10 to 14 days after treatment and last from two to five months. In some cases, patients develop Botox resistance over time and need to switch to Dysport to continue effective treatments. Dysport can spread and cover a large area, such as the forehead, faster than Botox. In addition, Dysport’s results are typically more visible compared to Botox and can last up to five months.
Botox and Dysport are comparable in price. Dr. Gould offers multiple neuromodulators and wrinkle-reducing injections, including Botox, Xeomin, Dysport, and Juveau.
The truth is it's not the product that determines the outcome of your intervention. It is the injector using it in a skillful and tested way. At your first appointment, treatment will be delivered with an idea of the outcome, but you may still be asked to come back two weeks after to assess your results and possibly to fine-tune them. Over time, your treatment doses and areas will become well-tuned, and you will likely return three times a year for repeat injections to maintain your amazing and soft results.
Botox and dermal fillers reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles; however, the modalities are quite different. Many dermal fillers are made from hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance found in your body. The primary purpose of dermal fillers is to add volume to treated areas that appear sunken or hollow. In addition, dermal fillers can be reversed with hyaluronidase if you feel you received too much filler.
Botox is directed into your facial muscle and temporarily disables the nerve signal, so you are unable to contract that specific muscle, such as the muscles in your forehead or in between your brows.
Dermal Fillers ‘fill’ spaces and improve hallow while Neuromodulators soften the signals of movement to reduce visible wrinkles from those movements. Neuromodulators may have many other functions, and new research is focusing on how these other functions can improve your skin tone and potentially pore size.
Seek Natural-Looking Results
Results are not immediately visible until the Botox binds to the receptors on your nerve cells for your muscles to relax. Typically it takes up to ten days before you will see a noticeable improvement in your fine lines and wrinkles. Dr. Gould will discuss maintenance treatments for optimal results.
While recovery is minimal, your face may be red or have tiny bumps on your face at the injection sites. However, this side effect is temporary and should subside within 15 to 20 minutes. It is crucial you do not let the Botox spread to non-treated areas and should avoid the following:
Dr. Gould will give you specific post-treatment instructions for optimal results. You can take antihistamines and anti-inflammatories after injection to reduce swelling.

When performed correctly, numbing creams are typically not needed for treatment. Some patients feel a slight pinch with the injection, but the treatment is tolerable overall.
Botox is a safe and effective treatment with minimal risks. Some side effects include dry mouth, discomfort at the injection site, headache, neck pain, and vision problems. Allergic reactions are rare but can happen hours or days after treatment. You will need to seek immediate emergency treatment if you experience swelling in your face, tongue, or throat.
The cost of treatment will vary for each patient based on several factors—your facial concerns, the amount of Botox needed, and your aesthetical goal. Dr. Gould works with you to develop a preventative aging treatment plan that meets your specific needs.
Botox is an elective cosmetic treatment and is not necessarily covered by medical insurance. Therefore, it is always best to check with your insurance provider about your coverage options.
